Effects of Fibre Length on the Physical Properties of Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch Cement Board (OPEFB-CB)

In a cement board (CB) composite, fibres reinforce the board. It is because length of significantly impacts strength CB composite. Nonetheless, physical properties are also an important aspect when dealing with quality control final product. This study investigates effects various fibre lengths in fabrication on its properties, including cement-hydration rate, tensile strength, density stability and thickness swelling (TS). Oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) at different used based mesh retained size R7M, R14M, R30M. The OPEFB-CB mixture this research 3:1 (cement: ratio), target 1,300 kg/m3. sample compressed using 1000 psi cold-compression load to achieve desired composite 12 mm. revealed that longest R7M average 5 mm resulted lower highest TS value. Meanwhile, dimensional was achieved by composites R14M R30M, having 3 1 mm, respectively. Based results, optimum recommended processed sieve recommendation made most stable lowest results which range 1,231–1,309.4 kg/m3 0.65 %.
